ABOUT US

East Kilbride Credit Union is a financial co-operative owned and controlled by its members. It is a mutual organisation, which offers saving and loan facilities to its members.

East Kilbride Credit Union was formed by a group of people with something in common, namely, residents of East Kilbride. This is known as a Common Bond. The bond in our case is a community one. The members save regularly and create a fund to make loans to each other at a fair rate of interest. The Credit Union offers a basic financial service to anyone living in East Kilbride. Over 6,500 residents of East Kilbride have made use of our services.

As Credit Unions are a member-oriented organisation the surplus income generated from loans, after meeting the running costs are returned to the membership as dividend on their savings.

Also available to the residents of East Kilbride is the thriving Junior Account. Currently we have almost 800 junior members.

East Kilbride Credit Union is registered under the Credit Union Act 1979 and the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965 Registration Number 17 CUS. Credit Unions are Authorised & Regulated by the Financial Services Authority and are covered by the Financial Ombudsman Service the same as banks and building societies.
