Building Bright Financial Futures

Building Bright Financial Futures with St Kenneth’s Primary School

We’re excited to announce our growing relationship with St Kenneth’s Primary School, where our team member Linzi is spearheading efforts to launch an innovative School Savers Scheme. This partnership is designed to introduce young people to the fundamentals of saving, building financial responsibility from an early age and empowering them with practical money management skills.

On 12th November, Linzi had the opportunity to speak in front of the entire school at an assembly, sharing the benefits of saving with East Kilbride Credit Union (EKCU) and introducing the students to the concept of a school-based credit union. The enthusiasm from the students and staff was fantastic, and Linzi enjoyed discussing how saving even a small amount regularly can add up over time and make a big difference.

The School Savers Scheme is an initiative aimed at teaching children the value of saving, and we’re thrilled that St Kenneth’s Primary School is keen to get involved. Under Linzi’s guidance, the students will not only learn about saving but also gain hands-on experience in running their own mini credit union within the school. Linzi plans to return regularly to support the students in setting up and managing the scheme, helping them understand how a credit union operates and the importance of financial literacy.

By introducing these concepts early, we hope to build a foundation for lifelong financial wellbeing and help nurture a generation that values and understands the power of saving. EKCU is committed to empowering our community, and we’re grateful for the support of St Kenneth’s Primary School in making this possible.

Keep an eye on our blog and social media for updates on the School Savers Scheme at St Kenneth’s – we’re excited to see the positive impact this initiative will have!
