Front Counter Re-Opening!

All staff are working from home until Friday 28 January 2022, so our online, email and telephone services remain unaffected.  Members wishing to deposit money, make loan repayments or make share-withdrawals can do so by phone during office hours or online 24/7 if they have registered for these services.  If you wish to register please click here.

There is currently an increase in telephone traffic so please bear with us if there are delays in responding to your calls.  If you need to leave a voicemail please make sure you give us your name, credit union account number and a telephone number where we can reach you.  You may hear an O2 voicemail response but, don’t worry, it’s definitely EK Credit Union. Our return call may also come from an O2 mobile number.

The public counter will be re-opening to members from Wednesday 2 February 2022 at 10:00.

We look forward to welcoming all members’ back to the office.

Living Wage

EKCU are proud to be a Living Wage employer!

The real Living Wage is based on the cost of living and is voluntarily paid by nearly 6,000 UK employers who believe a hard day’s work and deserves a fair day’s pay.

Our General Manager, John Lange, said “East Kilbride Credit Union are proud to be a Living Wage employer. We see this as an investment in our team and believe that providing good working conditions and pay results in a higher level of staff motivation, staff retention and improved relations between managers and staff.”

EK Challenge Poverty Event

EK Challenge Poverty

EK Challenge Poverty Event – Saturday 22nd June 2019

EKCU was very excited to be part of the Challenge Poverty event in the East Kilbride library recently along with other businesses and charities dedicated to helping those in need.

We had a great time chatting to members of the public and to MSP Linda Fabiani and Westminster MP Lisa Cameron who came along to support this great cause.

Credit Unions exist to serve their local community and this event gave us an insight to the struggles that people in our town face every day. This was highlighted by Dennis Curran, founder of Loaves and Fishes, who gave a powerful speech addressing the increased number of people using foodbanks. To support this charity, we have a box in the office for anyone who would like to donate to the foodbank.

We also work in partnership with the local Citizens Advice Bureau who come into the credit union once a month to offer advice for anyone currently having money problems or struggling to pay bills. If you think this service would help you, please call us on 01355 224771 and we will let you know when they are next due in the office.

Treasurer’s Gift

EKCU Treasurer’s Gift

Each year at the AGM the Directors choose one or two local charities to receive a share of the Treasurer’s Gift. This used to be paid to the Treasurer as an honorarium but since most of the finance and accounts work is done on computers by the staff team the Treasurer has very kindly donated the money to charity.

Parkinson’s UK

Parkinson’s UK were delighted to be one of our chosen charities and will put our charitable donation to good use.

Maggie’s Centres

Maggie’s Centres greatly appreciated our donation of £200.

Cyber Essentials Accreditation

Cyber Essentials Accreditation

East Kilbride Credit Union is delighted to have achieved the required standard for the government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme.  General Manager, John Lange said, “The Board took the decision to seek accreditation as they are well aware of the risks to member data through viruses, malware and other cyber-attacks.  We worked closely with our local IT partners VectorCloud to help us secure the network and keep the devices and software up to date.  This helps us guard against the most common cyber threats and demonstrates our commitment to cyber security.”
