Empowering Adult Learners: East Kilbride Credit Union at East Kilbride Library
At East Kilbride Credit Union, we believe that financial education is key to building stronger communities. That’s why we were delighted to join a group of Adult Learners for an engaging session at East Kilbride Library, hosted by the wonderful Alice Thompson- a Youth Family Community Learning Officer from Multiply. Linzi, from our team, had the pleasure of leading the discussion, sharing insights into what a credit union is and the unique benefits we offer to our members.
The session provided an excellent opportunity to explain how EKCU operates as a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting our local community. Linzi outlined the variety of savings and loan products available and the added value that comes from being part of a member-owned organisation.

One of the highlights of the session was an open discussion about the value of money. Participants explored why it’s important to understand how to manage personal finances effectively and how a credit union can help. Whether it’s saving for a rainy day, securing an affordable loan, or simply receiving personalised financial support, EKCU is here to help residents of South Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, and East Renfrewshire achieve their financial goals.

Another important topic covered was the need to protect your money, particularly in today’s digital age. Linzi shared practical advice on recognising scams and safeguarding personal information, empowering the group to feel more confident when handling their finances.
